Content Policy
The owner of this website (that’s me) retains the right to add, edit, or remove any content at his sole discretion. This includes posts, comments, links, and any other content which appears on dailydixie.com, subject to legal restrictions. To avoid my arbitrary whim, the following non-exhaustive guidelines are suggested when generating content on this website.
- No abusive or threatening content.
- No spam. This means don’t generate content promoting any commercial product or service unless I say it’s okay.
- No malicious campaign trolls. It’s cool if you’re a member of a campaign, but don’t hijack my website to deceive my readers in some pathetic attempt to show fake support.
- If you’re involved in a campaign or issue, I recommend disclosure. This doesn’t mean you have to tell people your name, just say “I’m a member of this organization” or “I’m related to this candidate.” This isn’t required, but it will avoid my arbitrary whim.
- Don’t use multiple pseudonyms when you generate content, and especially don’t talk to yourself.
Privacy Policy
Regarding general information provided by your web brower:
- Some information is collected each time you access a part of dailydixie.com. This information may include your IP address, your web browser, and your referring page. This information is primarily used for analysis of traffic. To limit the information sent to dailydixie.com, I suggest seeing your browser’s documentation.
- None of this information will be shared with or sold to third parties except to comply with legal requirements or to counteract spammers and campaign trolls.
Regarding information the user voluntarily sends to dailydixie.com:
- There are times when you will submit information to the website voluntarily. This may include a psuedonym, an email address, an email message, or a website url.
- Some of this information will be publicly displayed. It should be pretty obvious when this is the case.
- Email addresses are not publicly displayed and will not be shared or sold to third parties without your permission. Some exceptions to this policy include legal obligations and to counteract spammers and campaign trolls.
- The website owner is the sole arbiter of what constitutes an exception to the information policy.
Disclosures
- No one pays me to blog, except that I do sometimes accept advertising. I do not generate blog content with certain viewpoints or perspectives for any form of compensation. I don’t accept bribes, kickbacks, or trades for what I write.
- When I do accept advertising, it is for the display of text or graphics that are obviously ads. These ads are separated from blog content and do not indicate my endorsement.
- I have, however, considered running for office or starting an entrepreneurial enterprise which would market to the political world. If you have some ideas, I’d love to separate you from your money.
- I make a living as an engineer and developer. I’m not going to disclose my employer.
- I am a member of or have donated to several non-profit organizations. The “controversial” ones I can think of now are Free the Hops, Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
- Sometimes I get free stuff because of this blog. This may be books, software, invitations, or other stuff. This is usually because someone’s looking for a mention or because I solicited it and implied a possible mention. I almost always blog about it (because that’s the point). If I don’t, it’s probably because the freebie sucks and I’d rather not say something mean about free stuff.
